Who Is the Mildly Manic Mom?
My name is Cindy Hallman-Morris and I am The Mildly Manic Mom.
I have two children – one who was diagnosed with
High Functioning Autism at the age of 4. He also falls into the category of Asperger’s Syndrome and he is now about to enter high school. My daughter is entering the Tween years and I am afraid. My husband of 18 years has been reinventing himself for the last two years – patience is my middle name!
I love to cook and am fairly manic about nutrition. I lost 30 pounds a few years ago with Weight Watchers and still struggle to keep it off – this is not always a winning battle. I learned some great habits with Weight Watchers and also love to read healthy food magazines. I try to balance this with some good Southern cooking.
When I am not blogging, I am teaching high school math. I love my job, though it is getting harder and harder these days. Not the kids – they are the reason I keep going – but the politicians. I have taught now for 17 years; my students are an inspiration to me.
In 1998, we moved to Asheville, North Carolina and I don’t ever want to live anywhere else. This town is fabulous!
I think there are lots of us out there – trying to balance so many things and feeling like we aren’t doing any of them really well! Oh, we may look calm and together on the outside but peek in our closets or check out our kitchen with last nights dishes still in the sink. Join me while I look for healthy recipes for the whole family or share school stories from both sides of the podium.
